Am I just a wallet with legs?

October 24th, 2008

Tradeshows in general seem to do an awful job branding themselves and connecting with their target audience in a meaningful way. This latest image for the Calgary Women’s Show is no exception. Not only is this the same image that was used in the last show, but this image says “all women love to shop and we want you to come and spend your money”. It’s hard to choose an image that connects with the target audience, especially when it’s women in general. My advice: don’t use an image, or one that portrays one small segment of your audience unless they are your primary segment (or show a group of diverse women having fun together!). Focusing on one segment can alienate the rest of your potential audience.
