Inspired by my trips to Los Angeles and New York City with Name Your Tune for celebrity and media gifting events, Baby Marché is an exclusive event reserved for 60 of the top products of the children/parenting industry to be showcased to Canada’s influential celebrities, industry media and retailers.

On Wednesday, May 27th, 2009 at the beautiful Historic Distillery District in downtown Toronto, Baby Marché will host Canada’s first and only event to bring together media, retail and celebrity parents all for one day for a fabulous gifting suite. Your participation at Baby Marché will get your product into the hands of the influential media, savvy retailers and celebrities. This is the experience that will not have you wondering if your press kit and sample arrived at its destination or who opened it up once it got there. No one can sell you and your product better than you and this event is the time and place for you to do that. In person you can demonstrate and share your product – and yourself. In my own experience as a publicist, I know the time, energy, effort and dollars that go into marketing and promotion. Hours of preparing press kits, shipping them and following up by email and voicemail – only to hear from an assistant or intern – “yes, we have received your package and we’ll be in touch.”

The date in May has been chosen with an eye on what matters most to you. It is the peak time for TV and Film productions shot in Toronto and the media is beginning to plan for their Back to School and Holiday Shopping Guides. Specialty retailers are also looking toward their fourth quarter and will be eager to discover the must-have gifts for their customers.

Join a host of other premium vendors on site to share their goodies with the crème de la crème of Canada’s most influential media, celebrity parents and retail buyers. Baby Marché’s focus is the charitable goal of Hear Here which funds the non-profit charitable organization that purchases hearing aids for children in family who cannot afford them. Although there is no entry fee to Baby Marché, a donation to the cause will be accepted from the media, retailers and celebrities.

Meet the team of Baby Marché:

Eric Alper is Director of Media Relations and Label Acquisitions for KOCH Entertainment (Canada), North America’s largest independent label and distributor. Eric has handled the PR for thousands of artists and properties, including The Wiggles, Sesame Street, Strawberry Shortcake, Name Your Tune Personalized CDs, Sir Bob Geldof, Ringo Starr, Sinead O’Connor, Ray Charles, Barry Manilow, Jerry Lee Lewis, Natalie MacMaster, Rita MacNeil, Dwight Yoakam, Billy Blanks, Slash, Kris Kristofferson, Snoop Dogg, and Robert Munsch. He has been awarded Best Label Publicist Award by the readers of the trade publication Canadian Music Network. Eric has countless appearances as a special guest at for his work in Public Relations at Trebas Institute, Harris Institute of the Arts, George Brown College, Sheridan College, York University, Ryerson University and The University of Toronto among others.

Christine Liber has almost twenty years of experience, working all sides of the industry. She launched her career and earned her stripes at Universal Concerts Canada where she handled publicity, marketing and promotions for Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre and also worked on a host of national tours that included Lollapalooza, Lyle Lovett, The Barenaked Ladies, Lilith Fair and The Tragically Hip. In 1997 Christine formed her own company, Liberty Ink, and has worked as publicist for such television networks as Treehouse TV, CMT - Country Music Television, Discovery Kids and Teletoon and has worked as a unit publicist on a variety of television series including The Zack Files (YTV/Fox Family), the Emmy-nominated Angela Anaconda (Teletoon/Fox Family) and the lifestyle series Divine Design with Candice Olson (W Network/HGTV U.S.). Liberty Ink was the PR agency of record for the 2006 and 2007 Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala, which saw the inductions of Canadian icons Leonard Cohen and Joni Mitchell. Most recently, Christine worked with New York’s Metropolitan Opera on their ‘Live in HD’ project, a series of six performances that were broadcast from The Met live via satellite into movie theatres across Canada and around the world.

Talya Gaborieau is a Marketing Professional with 10 years of experience in the luxury goods sector and beverage alcohol industry. Talya began her career in France with L’Oreal, and most recently, as Marketing Director with Diageo Canada, leading the growth on numerous leading brands within the beverage alcohol industry including Baileys Irish Cream, Tanqueray Gin and Jose Cuervo Tequila. Talya’s passion for understanding consumer behaviour has driven strategies and programming within and beyond traditional marketing practices achieving global and local recognition. Talya has led the Canadian launch of various products including Baileys Flavours, securing an Elsie Award (LCBO) for ‘Best New Spirits Launch 2007’, and launched the Canadian-developed Baileys ‘Let Your Senses Guide You’ Advertising Campaign receiving prestigious Cassies Awards (Canadian Advertising Success Stories) in both 2005 and 2006. Talya has worked with numerous global partners, suppliers, agencies and cross-functional teams to drive share gains and brand health. Talya also volunteers her time at a local youth shelter, Youth Without Shelter, serving on the Board of Directors, and as an active member of the fundraising committee.
